Jason Bay who had a rough debut in Queens in 2010, may start the season with a rib injury.  The extent of the injury hasn't been divuldged yet. It was apparently a more invasive procedure that can actually lead to the Santanimal missing all of 2011.  So once again, the Mets mislead the public on what really happened with a medical issue. The Mets got back to .500 tonight, beating the Phillies 1-0 behind a strong outing from Johan Santana. Santana went 7.1 innings, holding the Phillies hitless through 5.2. Overall he gave up 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. The Mets actually held on to it for him, giving him his 9th win of the year.

I'm glad because he was a mere 16 appearances away from triggering his 2 million dollar contract for next year.  Alex is a good teammate and a decent back up infielder.  The problem is he played way too much for the Mets over the past two seasons, and you realize he's not really that good anymore.  They now have some money to play with next year.

R.A. Dickey was excellent again, giving the Mets 6 solid innings 2 run ball.  His walks were a little high tonight with 4, and his strike outs were low again with only 2, but he manage to get guys out, scattering only 5 hits.
